Many residents have complained about the deteriorating state of Noverton Lane, particularly the section between the junction with the High Street and Finchcroft Lane. The maintenance of the highway is the responsibility of Gloucestershire County Council and access to make repairs has been exacerbated by gas mains work being undertaken by Wales and West Utilities. The Parish Council has through the offices of the local Borough Councillor contacted Wales and West to complain about the slow pace of progress, commenting that on many days no workmen were on site. There has also been an on-site meeting between Cllr.Payne and a Gloucestershire County Council Highways Inspector, looking at the repairs that have been undertaken and those that need to be undertaken. According to Gloucestershire Highways the gas mains work should be completed by 7th June. Thereafter Gloucestershire Highways plan to re-surface the section of Noverton Lane between the junction with the High Street and Finchcroft Lane.
The Parish Council remain as frustrated as residents to the slow pace of the works being undertaken and the extreme inconvenience to local residents. We will continue to use all the means we have to push for a speedier resolution to completing the works.
